Micro-Events

What are "Micro-events"?
Small performances, workshops, parties, games, food/drink tastings, etc. These will take place in the hours between 8pm and 2am around the campground. An actual schedule of these events will be included in your program, and you will be encouraged to wander throughout the campground and visit as many micro-events as you can.

Hosting a Micro-event
Do you have a great idea or a talent that you'd like to share? Why not host a micro-event yourself? Email hikeswithoutmics@gmail.com to get your event on the schedule.

A few of the Micro-events in production:
- A GYPSY Camp presented by Human Resources Gallery including an acrobatic act, some gypsy violinists, and hopefully a fortune teller.
- A campfire performance by The Old Round.
- A tent tequila tasting seminar by Dr. Kevin J. Kelly, a resident expert in spirits.
- A roaming silent dance party.
- A "Bonus Hour" party during the hour that you gain for daylight savings (2am - 2am)
- A busking box (even if you are not signed up to play at the event, you can bring your instrument and perform in the busking box).

Some OTHER Ideas (you can steal these ideas if you'd like):
- Host your event in a camping tent!  You can easily transform this small space into a new environment (fill it with balloons, create a "library" with just a few books, or host an intimate concert for only 2 people at a time)
- Use the oak trees!   Hang paintings with rope to create an art gallery; hang hammocks for a nap area, or drape sheets to create a fort for your event.
- Bring board games or decks of cards and schedule in some friendly competition
- Print out song books and host a sing-a-long at the campfire
- Here's an example of a camping tent being used for a whiskey tasting (this tent even had hardwood flooring!) :

A few things to consider:
- There is no electricity at the park (And the sun goes down at 6pm so lighting IS an issue). Only one central campfire will be permitted, due to fire concerns, so no light sources with flames may be used.
- Your event can last as little as 5 minutes or as long as all night - it is completely up to you.  We just need to coordinate the schedule ahead of time so that it can be included in the program.
- You are welcome to have a tip jar or request donations during your event.
